SAFETY & EMPOWERMENT TRAINING

Safety and Empowerment for Experiential Learning: Appropriate Behavior and Professional Boundaries

This interactive training module was designed for college-age students engaged in experiential learning, such as internships and community-based learning, and equips them with knowledge of their workplace rights and protections. Developed in 2022-2023 with support from the Universities of Wisconsin, this training module was first implemented in Fall 2023. Since Spring 2025, the module is currently in 37 academic courses at UW-Parkside and at four other UW campuses, including UW-Madison. As of Summer 2025, more than 1,000 UW students have completed the training.

The training serves as an important risk management resource to ensure participants understand workplace expectations and protections. The program’s accessibility features support an effective training experience for a wide range of learners, including those with disabilities.
