Instructional Designer & Educator

My name is Kaila and I'm an instructional designer and educator passionate about creating engaging, accessible learning experiences.

I rely on established learning science and frameworks, such as ADDIE, universal design for learning (UDL), and Gagne's instructional events, to guide my process. I take time to understand learner needs so that I can design a learning experience that is authentic and relevant.

At University of Wisconsin-Parkside, I develop and teach work-based learning courses that help students connect career development with critical reflection. I foster environments where learners can see themselves in the material, connect new skills to professional goals, and reflect meaningfully. My work has earned national recognition, including the Society for Experiential Education’s Rising Leader Award and a Brandon Hall Silver Award for global accessibility standards.

I co-authored Equity in Experiential Learning: Work-Based Learning as a Viable Alternative to Internships and hold a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from UW-Stout. Beyond higher education, I serve on several community boards, co-facilitate leadership programs, and stay active in the arts as a musician and theatre collaborator.
